RBA raises the cash rate - highest level since 2011!

Today, 29/09/2026 the Reserve Bank Of Australia (RBA) has raised the interest rate by 0.25 percentage points - to 4.60%.

This was the sixth meeting this year and has set a new high since 2011 (over 15 years ago).

What does it mean for mortgage holders? For an average $600,000 loan, it will add around $91-$100 to your monthly repayments depending on how long you have left on the mortgage. It's a buyers market presently and with more properties likely to come to market prices will likely continue to drop with today's interest rate hike.

The rate increase was forecasted and expected, however the outcome could ultimately force a number of home owners to the brink. Watch this space.
